Contour Mill of Profile
The operation programmed in this module is a different way of doing what you did in Part 2. It machines the profile of the bottle opener. BUT this one uses the CAM a little more powerfully. You will use a “contour mill” operation to machine the profile. Contour milling is my go-to milling operation and I’m sure you will see why in this amazing video.

Contour Milling with IPW Containment
You don’t want to waste time cutting areas that have already been cut (“cutting air”). In this section you will constrain your cutting to the uncut regions.
- Video – Containment by IPW
- Use a .125 inch end mill T04 H04
Deburring
Create the deburring cycle as described in the video. There is a new Planar Deburring operation under Mill Planar.

- NOTE: You may have to enable this feature.

Post Processing
Post process each operation separately. Double check the posted files for accuracy.
- Use the post processor available here Common Setup Files: NOTE: You must unzip all of the files in the zip file and keep them together in the same directory to use them.
Be sure to:
- Check the part origin.
- Check that the origin appears in the code. Don’t edit it manually, enter it in the MCS geometry.
- Be sure the tool numbers T and H numbers are correct.
- Be sure you are using appropriate speeds and feeds for the tools. These values should have been entered in individual operations.
- Turn in the *.CNC files created when you postprocessed. Don’t make the mistake of turning in the “listed output.”
- For each CNC File created, submit a pdf of your completed program documentation form.
